An Ordinary Marathon

Bit of an ordinary marathon today (3.18.04) - nowhere near my best but nowhere near my worst either (whew!).

I don't think Six Foot Track translates to a good marathon unless there is enough rest and recovery, and then just some speed sessions to get back into faster running. At least the endurance base from SFT means there should be less fade in the last few kms. Well done, missed you at the finish but saw you out there a few times. Rest up and then plan the future. Too many long runs too soon can become a problem down the track.

So, is to be a Gold Coast 100k or another marathon for Ms "Ordinary Runner"?

Creamed rice and custard even better. Ultra runners love it because it puts a lining on the stomach to counteract the acid in sports drinks. Pancakes, pikelets with bananas & honey, hope you like them as well. Need to experiment with running straight after eating or you won't survive. Keeping food down is most important, find easy digestible food you like.

3:18 ain't too bad. It's always hard to back-up for Canberra after 6'. Gold Coast is probably a better one to run after 6' (or Melbourne).

It's all relative. You were the first ACT female to finish. In my book that's bloody awesome. Congratulations on a brilliant marathon!
